Why outside
the square?
Outside the Square started late 1990’s and were located within 1km of Cathedral Square in Christchurch…
So that’s where the physical link comes from. Aside from that Marty has always been a creative thinker, looking for creative ways to do things better, smarter and with more impact!
-2011
With funky offices in old buildings on Tuam Street, to Lichfield street and ultimately Poplar Lane, Outside the Square has provided graphics and marketing materials for 25+ years
such organisations as Franz Josef Glacier Guides, New Zealand Institute of Management, to the Twisted Hop Craft Brewery, Salomon and more…
The ultimate office, was Poplar Lane, 3 storys up, in a gated elevator, with space for the team, and the fussball table. Good times had, and the whole lane was a hive of activity. Mitchelli’s, Twisted Hop, German Beer bar, Vespa, Harakeke, C1 all kept things vibrant.
2010-2018
September 2010 came along and all the buildings Marty’s offices resided in came crashing down with the Christchurch Earthquakes.
Forced to move late 2010 back towards Tuam St and C4 coffee but not for long, when the Feb 2011 shakes put paid to working from town.
Marty worked in his community for several years and sold Munted Tee Shirts, before rebuilding links with clients and creating a more mobile office…
2018-
Marty continues to enhance and add value to a range of trusted clients based out of Ōtautahi, Christchurch.
Based out of his home office he now works more mobile, within their premises and utilising shared workspaces and cafes. Flexibility and adaptability enable him to pivot from role to role, and the demands that different projects provide!
He contracts specialist bespoke web development company, Meta Digital to manage all web dev and related functions.
